It has guided many brushstrokes, every bold color, every leap of faith.
I’m Tricia, a New York abstract expressionist artist creating energetic, colorful paintings that explore what it means to loosen your grip, follow your curiosity, and let beauty lead the way.
Tricia Caracappa creates abstract energetic landscapes - not just to imagine, but to feel. An abstract artist and designer from Katonah, New York, Tricia's philosophy to follow the energy of what lights you up is at the core of her work. She holds a BS from Providence College and a degree in interior design from Parsons. Tricia left her corporate career at Morgan Stanley for a creative career as a designer and an artist. Now she’s found her true joy creating and selling energetic art and guiding women to curate their soul-filled, collected homes through intentional art. She currently serves on the board of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association. Tricia’s work is in private collections nationwide and has been exhibited in galleries. Notable recent exhibitions include her solo shows “Sweet Surrender” in 2025 and “Possibilities” in 2023 at the Gallery at Yellow Studio and “In Bloom” at the Katonah Museum of Art.
Tricia’s process is part prayer, part play—a dance of curiosity, intuition, and surrender — that is inspired by God’s love and grace and the renewing energy of nature.
Working primarily in acrylics, supported by inks, charcoal, and whatever else feels right in the moment, she creates a feeling that lingers and fills us with light. Each painting becomes a back-and-forth with the canvas, where free, messy gestures meet thoughtful layers of color, line, and texture.
Her work, like the seasons, always leans toward the light—alive, unpredictable, and in the middle of becoming.
Tricia paints to offer a bit of softness when the world feels loud, a spark of strength when things get heavy, and a reminder that beauty can still ground and lift us at the same time. That pursuit is contagious. Her hope is that her paintings invite you to loosen your grip, follow your curiosity, and let delight lead the way.
